Drifting Leaves: Autumn Tag Challenge

Cecilia of Craft, Coffee and Cake has just tagged me for this Autumn Tag Challenge! I love autumn and tags, so this should be fun!
                                                                            The Rules

1. Download the cover photo and use it for your post
2. Acknowledge the person who tagged you
3. Tag others and comment on their blog to let them know!
4. Slip into autumn vibes

I've done the first two, so, onto the questions...

1. If autumn isn't your favourite season, what is? And if autumn is your favourite season, why?
I love all the seasons for different reasons, but summer would have to be my favourite, I think. Especially early summer: May-June is the best! However, I love the colours and cosiness of autumn.

2. What is your favourite thing that you do each autumn?
Oooh, there are so many! My favourite is probably going for hikes with my family, especially if they involve taking a camping stove and cooking dinner as well. I also love planning Christmas presents - I've already decided what to give almost everyone in my family! And I just remembered birthdays! Several of my siblings and I have our birthdays in the autumn; I always love celebrating those.

3. What are a couple of your favourite autumn memories?
Camping in the New Forest, which we did for several years running, at the beginning of October. It was amazing! Even though I had to sleep under the slope of the tent, so my nose was almost touching the tent when I was in bed... (there are some things that are not good about being small) The memories from those trips are probably my favourite autumn ones.

And the New Forest in autumn is just soo beautiful!

4. What book most reminds you of the autumn? Movie?

The book the most reminds me of autumn is The Theft of the Iron Dogs, by E.C.R. Lorac. It's a murder mystery that's set in the English countryside just after the Second World War. the book starts mid-September, and has that really cosy-but-melancholy, autumnal feel throughout.

Far from the Madding Crowd (the 2015 version) is a film that really reminds me of autumn. I think it might be because lots of it seems to happen round September-y time? I don't know!

5. What is your favourite drink for this season?
Earl Grey tea!! Every season!

6. What is one new thing that you want to do this autumn?
I want to go along to a recorder group that meets near me - I've been meaning to try it for the past couple of months, and I think I might actually be able to go to the meeting in November. I've been playing the alto recorder for a few years, but I've never done any ensemble playing, so that will definitely be a new experience!

Sadly, these recorders are not mine, but I wish they were!

7. Do you decorate for the season? If so, how? If not, how come?
Yesss! I love seasonal decorating! (though it normally takes me most of the season to get decorated) This year, I've put up fairy light in my bedroom and pegged waxed leaves onto them. I've done it before, too, and it always looks so pretty! I also have a couple of autumnal pen pots that I've made. I like to have lots of blankets around as well, but that is partly just because my room is freezing! I started to decorate my music stand, but never really finished it... the top part looks nice, anyway! Oh, and I also normally have lots of candles around, but I seem to have totally forgotten them this year.

8. Thanksgiving is a couple of months away; what is your favourite way to celebrate? (I think most of my blogger friends are American. 😂) If not, skip this one.
As I'm English, I'll skip this one!

9. What colour most makes you think of autumn?
All the warm reds, oranges, and yellows, but particularly rust orange.

This colour

10. Type up a list of ten words or names (i.e. White Chicken Chili) that encapsulate the season of autumn for you.

  • Crisp leaves
  • Cold nights
  • Chunky jumpers
  • Apple crumble/cake
  • Long hikes
  • Candles
  • Conkers
  • Mushrooms
  • Cold fingers
  • Studying
Looking back over that, it's a very random list!

I really enjoyed that, thank you Cecilia! I love autumn!

Now for tagging... I can't actually think of any bloggers who haven't been tagged already, but if you're reading this and would like to do this tag, then that would be great!

What do you do each autumn? Do you decorate for the season?
