Good Morning!

Hello there! Welcome to my blog!

I'm Caroline Bingley, and I'm a Catholic who enjoys painting, cardmaking, and crochet. I also love reading, although I can truthfully say that "I am not a great reader, and I have pleasure in many things.” My other hobbies include playing the recorder, baking and gardening. I aspire to be very good at sewing, and love looking at patterns and planning all the things I'm going to make "when I have time". As well as doing my hobbies, I also enjoy spending my free time going hiking with my family and watching films. Expect to see my ramblings on all these things, film and book reviews and more!

In case you're wondering why I chose the name Caroline Bingley, it was because when I was trying to come up with something with my sister, we saw this picture, and it reminded us of ourselves when we're satisfied with an idea:

And, as I'm the younger one, it just made sense for me to be Caroline!

  1. Hello Miss Bingley, it's lovely to meet you! I have many of the same hobbies (though all I can play on the recorder is Amazing Grace - and that rather poorly!) so I think I shall enjoy reading your blog. :) What are some of your favorite books/movies?

    1. Hello Lizzie! Sorry I've taken so long to reply to you - I sensibly decided to set up a blog the week before we moved house! Yes, it looks like we share many hobbies, which is fun (and the recorder is rather a niche interest - I think I've only met one other person who plays it). The books I like best are everything by Jane Austen, but particularly "Emma" and "Persuasion"; "Wuthering Heights"; and "In This House of Brede". Ooo, favourite movies... the 1995 Pride and Prejudice, the 1996 Emma, the 1995 Sense and Sensibility, The King's Speech... the list goes on! (And I'm sure I've forgotten a film I really like). What are some of your favourite books and movies?

    2. In This House of Brede is on my TBR - it sounded very intriguing! The King's Speech looked very interesting, too. (And of course I've read/seen all the Jane Austens as well. :D)

Let's see...some favorite books are The Great Divorce, The Death of Ivan Ilyich, Jeeves in the Offing, Jane Eyre...maybe David Copperfield? (I don't know which Dickens novel to single out, heh.) And some of my favorite movies are Ben-Hur, All About Eve, Jeeves and Wooster (though that's cheating a bit since it's a show), and The Incredibles, funnily enough.

    3. I'm actually reading Jane Eyre at the moment - it's sooo good! And The Great Divorce is next on my TBR. I've heard a lot about it, so I'm really looking forward to reading it!

Ah yes, Jeeves and Wooster is great! And Ben Hur (I haven't watched that for way too long actually). I'd forgotten about The Incredibles! I love that film!

Sorry I've taken so long to reply: I've been having some technical issues which meant that the comment thing wouldn't work 😬
